About/Contact

The East Tennessee Enlightener Online Community News is a bridge of communication that connects the pockets of center-city communities and businesses dispersed throughout East Tennessee: Knoxville, Maryville/Alcoa, Oak Ridge, Clinton, Morristown/Jefferson City.

Founded as the Knoxville Enlightener in 1984, by a homegrown Knoxvillian, the Enlightener has maintained a hard-copy presence for over 30-years. Some of those years were under management out of Nashville that is no longer affiliated with the Enlightener.

The East Tennessee Enlightener has emerged as an online community news source that is exclusively focused on the concerns of East Tennesseans. It is again under the management of its original local owner.

The ETE is an independent, female, African-American owned news source with ears-to-the-ground and a finger-on-the-pulse of center-city East Tennesseans.
