OAK RIDGE, TN (January 2020) – Members of the Anderson County Democratic Women’s Club have events planned for the month of January to celebrate the National Women’s March, and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.
The 2nd Annual Human Rights Rally and march will be 2-3 pm, Saturday, January 18th, at the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church at 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike. The doors will open at 1 pm, for participants to make signs that “express their positive hopes for 2020.”
Those unable to march can still participate by making signs and/or attending the 2 pm program, which precedes the march. The moderator will be Pastor Mark Flynn of First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge. A celebration in music will be provided by the Oak Valley Voice of Praise, the UUC Sorta Singers, and the First Presbyterian Choir. The scheduled speakers are Rose Weaver, Kesha Shipe Waters, Jake Morrill, and Lissie Meza Beehan.
Following the program, marchers will travel west along Oak Ridge turnpike and convene at First Presbyterian Church, light refreshments and information from community sponsors will be available.

An organization of women who work with and promote local Democratic candidates, organizations, values, and causes. Annual dues are $20, but all interested are welcomed to attend gatherings on the third or fourth Monday of each month.
